i want to be wealthy

Wealth.
I want it.
I dream of it.
Imagine what I could do with it.

But what is it?

Is it money?
Is it material possessions?
Is it friendships?
Is it an appreciation for what is-the good, the bad, and the ugly?
Is it wisdom?
Is it health?
Is it contentment?
Is it an appreciation for our world and it's natural beauties?
Is it a secure belief in God and His love?
Is it an openness to learn?
Is it a hunger to learn?
Is it love?
Is it unselfishness?
Is it maturity?
Is it experience?
Is it excess?
Is it just enough?
Is it the result of suffering?

Who can have it?

Must you work for it?
Do you simply receive it?
Do you work to retain it?
Does it come only as you give it?

Just some late night musings!
Good night.

I am glad that I am not the only pondering this topic.

I think a better goal is freedom. Could Abraham have responded to God's call if he was a slave? Paul was free to travel where he wanted, when he wanted, with his tentmaking business.

Sometimes its finances that allow us to step out to be where God wants us but if its only about the money we can easily become ensnared seeking more and more. The story of the talents in Matthew 25 seems to indicate that financial freedom is worthwhile as long as care for the less fortunate is there to balance the scales.

I'm always amused by people who say they are living by faith. This is the code words for learning to get others to pay their way. Much of the business of organized church is based on this premise. Why can't living by faith mean being creative enough to get financial freedom in some form of business and then living by faith distributing the wealth?
